This is a small fun fact journal I created after a was talking to a friend about how much effort goes into creating OC's. Some people have asked me how long or how much time and effort did I put into making Flinch Spacey. I can't really say, but perhaps this cool list of facts about his inspiration stage, appearance stage, and over all design of his past may help you conclude an answer

I always find it fascinating to learn about Peoples characters as I become so much more attached to them when I learn how they were made

so I encourage anyone else to take a crack at this and send me a link

OC: Flinch Spacey

Inspiration stage

1:Like the 1986 War movie Platoon, which was made In retaliation for the poorly made inaccurate Vietnam film The Green Berets. Flinch Spacey was essentially created by me in retaliation for AVP:R which by 2008 had turned me off Alien Vs Predator completely until 2011.

2: Flinch Spacey was originally the name of a character in my AVP screenplay I was writing (however he only went by the name of Flinch) that controlled Xenomorph hit squads around the Universe who targeted Yautja elders. He was one of the first characters to be killed off. However I stopped uploading the story when people lost interest.

3: Flinch Spacey was actually meant to be a human Mercenary who managed to save and raise a Xenomorph to become his sidekick after her hive was destroyed, they both went around the universe exploring protecting Xeno hives. Though his name was not Flinch Spacey back then, but "Krack Molder". But by then I was wanting a lone Xenomorph character so I merged the two to make Flinch

4: Flinch Spacey's personality and aperance were inspired heavily by 4 characters I consider my favorites. Cheyenne from Once Upon a Time in the west. Max from the Mad max films. Han Solo from Star Wars. And Bacon from Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels. Though I still consider Cheyenne to be the main inspiration for Flinch.

5: while creating Flinch I stuck a big piece of paper that said in bold letters "WHAT HAVEN'T THEY DONE YET?" On my notebook As my goal while creating Flinch was to make something that will stand out a lot on DeviantART.

Desgin and appearance

1: Flinch was originally meant to be a praetorian.

2: people always asked me if the strange yellow lines on the side of Flinch's head are scars a mutation. Those are in actual fact his jaw muscles, something all Xenomorphs have in fact

I just changed them to yellow because I somehow wanted to make it look like he had sideburns or facial hair

part of the outlaw identity lol

which I think is one of my favourite but not well know features he has

3: Flinch's jacket is supposed to be the same style used by the outlaw gang in Once Upon a time in the west.

4:All of Flinch's weapons have been carefully chosen to resemble firearms mostly used by anti hero's and bad guys from movies.

5: to this day no one has asked me wether Flinch's blue head is a plate attached to him by Hecuzers to identity their hive, or an actual hive trait

6:his blue head was originally meant to be purple but I found far to many purple Xenomorphs on Deviant that I didn't want people to affiliated Flinch with

so I changed it to blue which I think was a good choice, and gave him purple underwear instead of red

since I secretly like purple

7: the one thing that was consistent with Flinch Spacey throughout his entire production and inspiration stages was he would have an Australian accent.

Character and Back Story

1:in the original backstory story when Flinch was a praetorian, which stayed much closer to Xenomorph Hive origins. Flinch's hive was wild, and was destroyed while he was outcasted and moulting into a Praetorian.

2:Flinch actually originally was meant to hate his hive and was hardly effected when it was destroyed, but I changed this idea as it strongly connected with the theory that Xeno's are slaves to the queen. (which I'm strongly against). since I always wanted to explore the relationship, obsessive nature and love a Xenomorph feels when protecting their hive and mother, as well as the effects on the Xeno's mental state if he or she was to lose it all, I changed Flinch so he expressed a strong love for his mother and hive.

3: Holocaust films were a main form of inspiration I used since Xenomorphs are considered a pest and inferior species to humans, and only a trophy or fun sport to most Yautja. Many holocaust themes I referenced in True Nature.

4: (I always and still do consider Flinch cute) Flinch was never meant to be considered handsome, sexy, beautiful or attractive or any crap like that when he was first created

that kinda developed on it's own since Xeno fans are awesome that way

5: I have already written in detail how Flinch will exactly die

though I am still very conflicted over ever uploading the short story or attaching his cause of death to OC questions or his Bio. Maybe if this journal is popular I might tell people

Facts that don't fit into the categories

1: Flinch has a strong fear of cats.

2: Flinch so far is the only Xenomorph I have seen that speaks with an Australian accent and uses Australian slang.
